After losing 200lbs, I have increased my calories back to maintaince, I'm worried that for my sedentary lifestyle that carbs will make me fat again, I'm currently eating about 170g carbs, all from things like potatoes oats and beans, are these carbs ok

Can this work when you're 52 and have severely damaged knees that limit your ability to do cardio and working out the lower body. My knees were ruined in the Marine Corp. And now I'm at an age where my metabolism is greatly reduced. I'm about 40 to 50lbs overweight. I try to d.i what I used to in the gym, basic body building, but I keep having injuries that stop me for weeks to months. I still want to build muscle and to get back to a body weight that is healthy. Anyone have any ideas

We need more Dr. Nadolsky's out there! I went in for my annual check-up and because diabetes is quite prevalent in my community, she straight-up told me to just watch my weight (AKA: "Don't get fat"). While I understand why she said that, this comment was the most unhelpful advice, ever. I can definitely understand why people are so frustrated with the medical community who don't know how to communicate with people who really do want to change their current health situation.

This was ironic for me. After struggling with having keto and pizza in my life, I started doing high protein, lower fat, lower carbs and exercise, as much as possible. I'm down 5 pounds in 8 days and feel great. It's the most consistent I've been and I have no cravings.

I started my journey (once again) only like 2,5 weeks ago and I'm 2,5kgs (5lbs) down from 117kgs (257lbs). I'm 18 yo and struggled with binge eating and emotional eating since I was 10 and bullied at school. I have tried losing weight million of times some years ago but I never managed to make it sustainable – I went full into it, ended up restricting to like 500-1000 calories and binged after 3-5 days. After that have I been working on my mental health & self esteem and got my binge eating somewhat under control. Binges still come especially when I have school stress, but not everyday and every week. And secondly, I don't care anymore. If I end up binging or overeating, I will NOT let it destroy the whole thing and push me into the hole of everyday binges and self-hatred. I will continue the next day and make it work. I promised that when I bought a scale 2,5 weeks ago, officially started this and decided that binge eating will never ever ruin this journey. And I promised that I will not push myself to binge with restricting. I will be kind with myself and give my body what it needs. 1600 calories, tons of veggies, home-cooked food, an hour of exercise (biking, walking, exercise videos).

Your videos have helped me so much especially when it comes to the mental side of weight loss. I have seen that change is possible and I'm not doomed to be big and sick all my life. That I can overcome all this. That there is something better than binging and crying while eating alone at my room. Yes, food brings comfort now but I can't continue like this. Moving hurts, I get tired easily. I have to change myself so I can have better future, maybe a family someday. Thanks for making these videos. It feels great to know that I'm not all alone and this is possible to overcome. And your content is so great, I love to learn more about weight loss things as well!

Hey I've been watching your videos for a while and I had a question for you. (Apologies if you've answered it before)
I've started dating a guy and I really like him. But he used to be really over weight and has loose skin. I can tell hes really self conscience about it, but I don't know what to say to reassure him without being like 'there there' it really doesn't bother me! I don't even see it unless he brings it up. It would be great if u could help me thanks! X

Keto just doesn't make logical sense. The default for our bodies is to burn carbs for energy. So forcing it into a state through extremely restrictive eating doesn't seem like a good idea. Keto is going against our own evolution. It's dumb.

Consistency is definitely my biggest obstacle. I can do good for almost a week and then ruin it with one cheat meal, that's usually not planned, just because I felt like treating myself. It sucks big time, and needs to stop.

I fight against the lesser man within, for he is a coward. He is lazy, he is good companion to no one, but he is in me.
He says less and less these days, for I am no longer interested in what he has to say. He always repeats his cacophonus chorus. he always feels the same, lousy…
And though he may never completely leave on his on accord I can at least guarantee that his stay while here shall never be a comfortable one.

Yeah I've done a keto/Paleo style diet . At my heaviest I was at 357 pounds , and in three to four months I'm now at 244 . But I'm not so strict on my diet anymore yet I haven't gained any weight . Rather instead I'm still losing weight . I just now workout more because I can do more . Carbs haven't affected me yet again I still am staying away from the main ones . ( " Main ones " being pasta , bread , rice , or potatoes . ) I do plan on getting into bodybuilding and filling out loose skin through tracking macros . Any thoughts ? I'm 17 so that might be a factor as to how I lost the weight so fast plus I joined track .

Keto works for a lot of things, but you have to be eating less calories that you need that is just the way weight loss goes, I am low carb not total keto I was for a bit to lose my first 20 kg, and it helped me loads, but I always eat my veggies eat your greens people. I also do IF just so I know what my calories are , and I do not eat between my two meals I just eat 2 really big veg filled protein and some good fats. I never snack and I am never hungry. I do that I use 3 egg whites and one whole egg yummo with heaps of mushrooms, spinach lots of great foods that fill you up and taste good. I hate starchy foods talk about gut issues, and lentals yuck o. Do not need starch in your life pr high sugar fruits or breads, if you want go for it for me I eat bread maybe once a month and boy do I pay for it talk about water weight bloat. But I know that is all it is so I do not care. More about the muscle gains for me now. Not what is on the scale.

Dude VCU!! I’m under the care of Obesity Specialists @ MCV/VCU. Her goal was to get me off as much medicine as possible. Keto is what has worked for me. It reminded me of past typical body building diet, it just had fat added to it. But, I knew I needed help. My Diabetes was out of control on three meals and snacks and 2 types of medication. Insulin was next. Typical breakfast 1 cup real plain Greek yogurt 1/2 cup berries 1/4 cup walnuts 1 tablespoon honey. Too many carbs!!!!!!!! On Keto, at first I ate a lot of food. Breakfast 5 whole eggs, 6 slices of bacon!! I was hangry!!. First year on it, (2016) I lost 50/60 lbs in 7 months. Due to personal issues, which effected my eating habits the weight was creeping back on.I wanted to quit.I stop seeing my doc. She told me when I was ready, come back.
March 2019, I returned. I just weighted myself. I’m down 14 lbs. Over time your body will tell you what you to need. Most of time all you need is a smaller meals. I eat maybe one or two times a day. Don’t believe the hype that Keto treats all carbohydrates as the enemy!!!!! Green leafy vegetables are a staple of the diet. Tomatoes are allowed. You start out restricted on the carbs, but you slowly add in more carbs. If no changes in weight, then you continue.
To me, Keto not a fad diet, it’s just the way I eat.

It is so sad that popular diets are not successful long term. I yo-yo dieted all my life until age 60. I read the China Study and dropped all 50 excess pounds and am effortlessly maintaining 8 years later. You can do this at any age. I think the Mayo Clinic has a very good eating plan if anyone wants to find a long term lifestyle easy to maintain. Not everyone can handle a vegan diet – I was lucky it works for me. Best wishes to you gentlemen.

I recently started on a medication called mysimba, one if the names of the medication that combines Naltrexone and Bupropion (wellburtin), because I've struggled allot with sugar addiction and food addiction in general. My obsessive behaviour with constant snacking decreased iimmediately and I feel more thirsty now, instead of jonessing for foods. It makes my weightloss journey easier, though it's not a miracle drug, I still need to work on not overeating and portion control, but it has helped. 😊

I started a weight loss program through the hospital that I work at a few months ago. So far I've lost 46 pounds and I'm looking forward to losing a bunch more. For the first month I took phentermine. I think it helped me establish the habits that I need to keep losing weight. I wouldn't want to stay on it too long though.

I can appreciate a negative perspective of keto, but have some scientific explanation or some form of research that shows how eating that way is counter-productive. Don't give examples of people misrepresenting the diet as reasons not to do it. This tends to be the only types of responses opposing keto. There is lots of research on how it's a great diet. If you're a doctor practicing in the field, please give a better answer as to why you oppose it. You don't have to do it forever. Once you get to a state you're happy with, you can stop it and jump right back in if you find yourself gaining weight. Once you're fat adapted your body is ready to kick it on again. Fasting increases your metabolism and keto is by far the best and easiest way to do fasting. You explain that you prefer 3 meals a day plus snacks. Please inform us on how that is superior to a fasting 2 meals a day or OMAD.
